Our Workshops

Nourishing Baby

Workshop 1

Establishing feeding is often hard work and the variability and baby’s changing feeding behaviours can be challenging and add great anxiety to this uncertain time.

  • What is reflux
  • Is this colic
  • Breastfeeding
  • How to go about mixed feeding
  • Vitamin D supplementation in the newborn

This workshop addresses the common feeding behaviours and symptoms and their management following evidence-based practice. It will help you make informed decisions about feeding your baby safely.

Development & Sleep

Workshop 2

The stops and starts of sleep, the disturbance to your sleep and the huge and far-reaching effects that these can have on the whole new family unit are difficult and unsettling.

Learn how to recognise baby’s cues and respond in differing yet gentle ways to help your child sleep in a way that reduces the impact on the family unit.

Skin, Mental Health & GP Visit

Workshop 3

This workshop is interactive and, like any great GP visit, covers a broad range of areas important to boost your self-confidence as new parents. We discuss baby’s skin and reassure about the common and often self limiting skin conditions and their management.

There are many changes to skin and hair that affect new Mums and we focus on education about these to reduce anxiety and the all-too- common distress when these occur.

General physical and preventative care for both new parents is also discussed here as well as assessing mood and helping guide you through the emotions of new parenthood. In this workshop we also offer supportive discussion and advice for those parents experiencing low mood concerns in this perinatal period. Signposts to accessing help options are also covered.

Reflection on New Family Roles

Workshop 4

Adjusting to parenthood and life with a newborn brings many changes and challenges. Coping with different routines and what is often a steep learning curve can take a lot of energy and it’s often energy that you may not feel that you have.

In this facilitated reflection session, we reflect on your parenting experiences and the complex demands of parenting and aim to strengthen the couple relationship as well as the relationships between parents and baby.

Baby Massage

Workshop 5

Learning the basics of baby massage is fun and easy and, best of all, it offers parents a way to connect with baby while gaining a new skill to help you soothe baby. As baby grows the same techniques can be used to strengthen this special bond. Performing regular massage has also been shown to help parents feel more confident and less stressed while caring for their children.

Baby, Safety & Unwell

Workshop 6

This workshop focusses on strengthening parents’ knowledge of the common injuries and illnesses and their management during the early months.

The gentle and interactive module is designed to provide you with more reassurance and confidence to care for your child when it’s needed.

Milestones & Development

Workshop 7

Many parents worry about their baby’s development. The wide spectrum of normal variants and timelines for baby to reach their milestones can cause anxiety and concern. In this module, parents are taught about the developmental milestones and supported in how best to achieve them. We also discuss when it may be important to access assessment and support.

Looking after Mum

Workshop 8

After they have given birth, many mothers can ignore the importance of healing and preventive care for their pelvic floors. This module gives new mothers the skills to promote correct posture, strengthen the areas stretched by childbirth and pregnancy and to help you get back to an active lifestyle. It will give you the confidence to prepare for future pregnancy and improve your overall postnatal recovery.

Weaning

Workshop 9

Introducing solids. How and when do we do this safely?

Paediatric dieticians will help you understand the steps to follow and the evidence behind different weaning models. What is allergy? What signs to watch for and when to seek help. Learn from the experts to ensure a smooth transition to solids.
